Which Pros Will Dance in Season 25 of DWTS? - Speculation

Dancing With the Stars is coming back this Fall on Monday, September 18 at 8/7c on ABC, and veteran bloggers Julia Delbel, Dwtsdreams, and Paul Bentley of DWTS Interact are back to give thoughts on the season. And with the announcement of the casted pros coming this Thursday on August 24, it’s time to predict will be in and who will be cut from the show this season!

Potential Pros From Season 24

Season 24 Winner Emma Slater

EMMA.jpg

Bentley I am going to be quite shocked if Emma is not even going to be part of the troupe this season. The reigning champion always gives good hype for the next season, and Dancing With the Stars  would be foolish not to sign Emma up for this Fall. The only way I can see Emma not returning is if she herself chooses not to do the show, which seems highly unlikely since it seems as though she has had a breakthrough, and she has built up more momentum as of late than she ever has before. Emma has proven herself as a strong choreographer for all types of personalities, so being as versatile as she is, she is without a doubt a superb choice for almost any male (or maybe even female) celebrity.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 97%

Julia “Season 24 Winner Emma Slater”. It’s been three months and I’m still shocked every time I read that! I am so happy Emma was able to win last season after never really even having the opportunity to have a legitimate shot at it. Anyway, I agree with you, Bentley. Only way Emma isn’t a pro is if she chooses to sit out, or if she gets badly injured between now and the show starting. And we know the former isn’t happening, because she did a promo shoot with some of the other DWTS dancers towards the end of the summer tour.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 99%

Dwtsdreams After seasons of Emma getting handed older partners, she finally got a season/partner she deserved! This season she blossomed into more of a mature, confident dancer, and I adore watching her. Unless the producers don't ask her back, which I think would never happen, I don't think there is any possible way she won't be back this season! She also did a promo shoot with some of the other DWTS dancers. I am confident that she will be back this season dancing for the shiny mirror ball on our TV screens.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 99%

Lindsay Arnold

LINDSAY.jpg

Julia Lindsay has made the top 4 of every DWTS season since her return as a pro back in the Fall of 2015, and this past Spring saw her highest placement yet as runner-up with partner David Ross! She’s developed a nice following over the years and has delivered great work during her time on the show thus far, and I don’t see her being dropped from the pro roster anytime soon. She’s already confirmed to be involved in the new season, both via her Instagram and photos from behind-the-scenes of the same promo shoot Emma was recently involved in, but I’m factoring in a 1% “margin for error” since something could happen between now and later this week when pre-season announcements begin.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 99%

Dwtsdreams Like Julia said, since her return as a pro in Fall 2015 Lindsay Arnold has graced our tv screens dancing all the way to the top 4 every season! She has a gift for turning celebrities with two left feet into a top 4 position. She has hit her stride as a pro dancer, becoming a favorite in Dancing With the Stars households! Since she already confirmed via Instagram she will be in the new season, I have no doubt she won't not be a pro this season!
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 100%

Bentley I remember when Lindsay was brought back in season 21 at the last minute and thinking to myself that she probably wasn’t going to become a regular pro on the show outside of the troupe. But once when I saw her unique choreography and ability to progress her partners, my thoughts on her returning became a whole lot more enthusiastic. Coming from the troupe without much of a popular following, Lindsay has gone from a background character to a fan favorite (at least from what I can tell). And since some may argue that she is overdue for a win, I think DWTS wants to take advantage of her talents and give her another shot.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 95%

Val Chmerkovskiy

VAL.jpg

Dwtsdreams As a result of OG pros such as Derek and Mark’s departure, Val has become the only male pro we can count on to be the male face of DWTS. He has delivered each season for countless years incredible routines and mirrorball-winning partners. Val has been working nonstop for 3 years straight to DWTS season to tour to season to tour. This past off season was his first little break although Val still worked a ton, he got to spend a ton of time with his family, etc. I think Val loves the show but might possibly really like just taking some down time.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro:86%

Bentley It’s no secret that young and old fans alike love Val, whether it be for his dancing, his partners, his looks, his personality, or his portfolio. Nevertheless, I would say that Val might just be the number one fan favorite male pro on the show right now, and by the looks of it, it doesn’t look like that title is going to diminish any time soon. He has been getting a lot of “ringers” as partners lately, so maybe the show would like to challenge him with a new kind of partner that we have not yet seen before.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 95%

Julia Val is one of DWTS’s most popular pros, and has placed very high in most of the show’s recent seasons. After each of the last five or so seasons he’s claimed he “might take a break” and a lot of his fans always fall for it, but he hasn’t taken a season off since he started and I don’t see him doing so now, especially with the next season after this one being a year away.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 90%

Sasha Farber

SASHA.jpg

Dwtsdreams Sasha Farber is a prankster that the everyone's loves. He is sweet/funny and can do some pretty cool tricks. I think he will be in the lineup for sure if he gets asked back and I don't think there will be any way he won't be asked back.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 98%

Julia Sasha is a pretty well-established pro nowadays, but the producers have shown that being in the lineup for several seasons doesn’t make someone immune to being cut from it. With the announcement of two former pros coming back and rumors of people potentially being promoted from the troupe, I’m wondering who would be cut to make room for them and Sasha not being seen at any DWTS happenings since the end of tour is concerning. His very public engagement to Emma might keep him safe, though, plus he has a different energy than most of the other current guys so those could be reasons for him to be kept around.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 70%

Bentley Ever since Sasha was revived as a pro in season 22, I have gotten a very strong vibe from him that reminds me a lot of Mark Ballas. Although Sasha and Mark are obviously two different dancers with their own unique executions of different dance styles, they both have a certain charm to them that truly makes them stand out from the rest. And with that, that gives me a sense that Sasha will most likely return this season, especially coming out of a season in which he danced with Simone Biles. There is a small part of me, though, saying that he might be cut just for the fact that there are other pros that the show wants to showcase, but even if that is so, I still expect to see Sasha at least dance in the troupe again.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 87%

Julia If Sasha isn’t a pro I imagine the situation will be like when Artem, Emma, and Jenna were cut and he won’t be on the show at all this season.

Bentley I guess you’re right. Lately, the people who end up joining the troupe are newbies and not downgraded from pro status. Maybe some of the pros would rather not be on the show at all than be in troupe, considering all of the opportunities they end up getting outside of the show.

Sharna Burgess

SHARNA.jpg
Dwtsdreams  Last season Sharna was in the cross fire of a huge controversy with Bonner most of the season. I hate Bonner and to be honest I lost a huge interest in Sharna. She fell to the bottom of my favorite pro list and I didn't connect with her any more. Although she did have Bonner, Sharna is always a safe pick as a pro because she is/was a fan favorite and many fans gravitate towards her “sweet yet sexy” personality. In Sharna’s live stream she basically confirmed she was going to be a pro and she was at the pro shoot a couple weeks ago so she is a pro for sure.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 100%

Julia Sharna is one of the most popular pros currently on DWTS and was seen at the aforementioned promo shoot so I think she’s in.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 99%

Bentley Sharna has shown the audience so much to what she has to offer to the show, such as choreographing for a big-time ringers like Charlie White and James Hinchcliffe, finding new ways to redefine dance with Noah Galloway, and dealing with heat from partners like Antonio Brown and Bonner Bolton. And despite the minor controversies she had from her partners (which in my opinion, weren’t even all that controversial, but other people found it to be), all publicity is good publicity. And sure, Sharna doesn’t necessarily need publicity, but hey, it can help. But besides that, Sharna is always a favorite when it comes to a elegant Viennese Waltz or a sexy Samba, so this is yet another pro that I am confident about returning next season. And I think I would be a bit disappointed, too, if she wasn’t. But as we all know, in a business like this, almost everyone is expendable, and we have seen Sharna almost cut from the lineup before back in season 19 (although I think her fan base has grown a lot more since then), so it really all just comes down to the vision of what the producers have for the show this season.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 92%

Julia James wasn’t a ringer, Bentley. Sharna’s only true “ringers’ thus far have been Charlie as you said and I guess kind of Nick Carter.

Dwtsdreams Julia, I don't think Charlie was a ringer, and I don't think he was as good as people said.

Bentley Wow, really? I think it’s safe to say that that is a minority opinion. :P

Artem Chigvintsev

ARTEM.jpg
Julia Artem seems to be a long-term fixture in the pro lineup, but as we’ve seen before he’s not at the top of the producers’ list and was once cut even after being announced as a pro that season. He was yet another pro to be present at that promo shoot so as of right now he’s probably set to be part of Season 25. But yeah, if the male side gets overstuffed he might be a candidate for a casualty over there.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 80%

Bentley As far as comparing Artem to the other pros, he really isn’t talked about as much as the others, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes a pro that is pretty quiet is favored by the producers so other pros can be spotlighted brighter, but then again, this can  also mean that DWTS would have less of a problem crossing him out of this season’s pro list. Personally speaking, I feel as though there is still more to Artem than we have seen, so I would love to see him return, but my concern is whether or not the general audience feels the same way. But from what I’ve seen on social media, I think the older female viewers favor him over some of the other male pros, so maybe he’s a good choice for views.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 88%

Dwtsdreams As the season gets closer I look for signs to lead me in the right direct on pros this might sound silly but Artem was getting a haircut which seems like a stupid sign but sometimes other pros are higher than him on the producers’ list so just a small sign like this helps. He was also at the photo shoot with the pros. As Julia said he has been cut as a pro after being announced so you never know.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 90%

Peta Murgatroyd

PETA.jpg

Bentley In a way, I was kind of surprised that Peta participated in last season of the show considering she had just had a baby. And I was even more surprised to see that both she and Maks were on the show together; I thought for sure that at least one of them would have stayed home with baby Shai. But hey, these people love their jobs! Now that I see how truly dedicated Peta is to the show (I mean, the only times she was absent from a season was when she had to be), I have an immensely strong feeling that Peta’s ambition will lead to her wanting to continue on with the season 25 milestone. However, she might just be homesick from taking time away from her family to dance, so maybe she’ll just sit this season out. But I’m going with the former rather than the latter.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 82%

Julia Peta has said she might take this season off, but a lot of pros tease things like that with nothing coming of it. I guess she might be seriously considering it, but if so I think the producers would try to entice her to stick around.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 70%

Dwtsdreams Peta has always been dedicated to her work and made it clear that a baby wasn't going to change her career but I can tell that through her interviews she was a little surprised on how much she missed Shai and how  Shai is more important than anything. I think the only way she will do the show is if she gets a partner that doesn't have to travel and she can be flexible on her hours.
I am coming back to this after the gma teaser was released and one of the girls looks SO LIKE PETA…...
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 80%

Maks Chmerkovskiy

MAKS.jpg

Bentley Maks is sort of a wild card. For the longest time, I thought he was done with the show for good, then he came back as a throwback pro, left again, and then ended up being… a regular again? I’m still unsure whether or not Maks is considered to be a season-to-season regular pro, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he is. After last season’s injury, Maks did not get nearly as much traction as some of the other pros, but being that he is such a big name on the show, I don’t think that it hurt him that much. And like I said with Peta, Maks might be a little homesick away from his kid for long rehearsal periods, but I think Maks also considers Dancing With the Stars his second home, so maybe he would feel better on the dance floor for a relatively important milestone season.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 78%

Julia After not getting to spend much time on the dance floor last season, I think Maks will want to be on again this fall. Even if he did consider sitting out, I think production would try to get him to stick around.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 80%

Dwtsdreams Maks is so unpredictable. He says he is done with the show than he comes back than he is done than he comes back… He was injured for most of the season last year so you never know! I won't be surprised if he is back
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 80%

Alan Bersten

ALAN.jpg

Bentley It’s not very often that a troupe member is upgraded to pro status, but if there is anyone to do it, it’s Alan. Fans all over have been wanting him to finally become a pro, and with last season’s chain of events, he practically was. And he was pretty good at it, too. I think if there is a need for a male from the troupe, Alan would be the first choice. But the only question is about whether or not there is room for him. But hey, even if he’s not a pro this season, you can probably count on him still being in opening numbers and different dance bumpers.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 43%

Julia After his strong showing working as Heather’s substitute pro partner last season, I was thinking this fall would finally be his chance for an official pro position. However, with the news of a couple of past pros being involved in this season and making the male pro lineup even more overstuffed, I’m having some doubts now. I think if both throwback pros are women he might have a decent shot but if not then it’ll be less likely.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 45%

Dwtsdreams I think some pros are starting to leave which opens up a spot for Alan. I said this last season and I will say it again Alan deserves to be a pro and that is that. I expect to see him as a pro.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 95%

Gleb Savchenko

GLEB.jpg

Bentley Gleb is another one of those pros that I’m unsure as to whether or not the show is considering him a regular or not. For some reason, Dancing With the Stars likes to put certain pros in a certain season, keep them in a hiatus for a few years, and then all of a sudden make them a regular. It’s like the show is trying to make itself mainstream again. :P But with Gleb, I am really on the fence about what I think the show plans to do with him. I think Gleb definitely wants to do season 25, but it’s all about what happens behind the scenes that we don’t know about that is really important. He is likeable dancer, but he hasn’t quite gotten the base that a lot of the seasoned pros have acquired yet.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 61%

Dwtsdreams Gleb just had a child in another country so i'm not sure if he is planning to leave his family again or not. Gleb is a great pro so whatever he decides I support.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 70%

Julia It seemed like Gleb might take some time off to be with is family after the recent birth of his second daughter but he’s back in LA now (not sure if his family is also there right now) so I’m guessing he’ll be back for Season 25.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 75%

Kym Herjavec

KYM.jpg

Bentley It’s quite funny, actually, how Kym says that sometimes she doesn’t know if she is going to return, but then her husband Robert shows more than a lot of enthusiasm for wanting to come back for an All-Stars season! I know I’ve said this before, but Kym and Robert are the best couple to ever come out of Dancing With the Stars. But I digress. . . Kym is another wild card in terms of whether or not she is going to return, but I’m leaning towards her not returning because of how busy she always seems. And also, in the dancing world, younger dancers are usually preferred over the older ones, and that makes me think that the producers are more willing to pick other female pros over her. It might be unfair, but that’s how it usually works. Kym is always a breath of fresh air when she’s on the show, so hopefully I’m wrong about her not coming back this season!
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 34%

Julia It was great to have Kym back in the spring, but she has confirmed she won’t be on Season 25. Hope to see her on DWTS again someday!
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 1% (CONFIRMED OUT but things could always change)

Dwtsdreams She is confirmed out.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 2%

Keo Motsepe

KEO.jpg

Bentley Poor Keo is known for being eliminated very early on the show pretty much every season he’s ever been on, and that does not look too good for his portfolio, whether people believe it is because of his dancing and teaching abilities or not. Personally, I think he has mostly just had a lot of bad luck with pairings that don’t quite work for him, but that doesn’t help his record with the show. Since Dancing With the Stars has given him so many chances to show what he has to offer, maybe they are ready to move on to someone, but hopefully they will see how much Keo has learned from his time as a pro and in the troupe and give him a spot in this season’s lineup!
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 50%

Julia It seems that Keo may have become the “bubble” pro on the guys’ side. If the male pro lineup still has space once production’s top picks have confirmed or turned down their involvement in the season, he gets a spot. If not, he’sin the  troupe. I’m not really sure which way things will go this season. I think at least one guy from last season will be out, but not sure whether or not that person will be Keo.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 50%

Dwtsdreams If the male lineup has an open spot than there is a higher probability we will see Keo there. He is constantly bouncing as a pro and troupe member, and I feel as though he is a filler.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 80%

Witney Carson

WITNEY.jpg

Bentley Remember when Witney had a whole bunch of hype behind her after winning season 19 with Alfonso Ribeiro? What ever happened to that? It seems as though Witney is not as popular as she used to be, but she still has a pretty large following. It seems as though Witney hasn’t really had the right partner for her in a while, so she has sort of been overshadowed by a lot of the rest of the cast. This just goes to show that just because someone has a Mirror Ball Trophy, it does not necessarily mean that they are a favorite to return by the powers of the show. However, she would still be missed by many if she were to be cut, and she does bring a nice, positive attitude to the show most of the time, so it seems more likely than not that she will brought back to possibly build up her hype again.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 75%

Julia Witney may not be the main female face of DWTS anymore, but she has still been a consistent part of the pro lineup for the last few years. She’s indicated a few times throughout the summer her intention to return to LA for Season 25, so I’m pretty sure she’ll be part of the new cast.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 95%

Dwtsdreams : Witney said on her Instagram story that she was returning to LA for DWTS, so I think she is a yes.
Probability of Being a Season 25 Pro: 90%

Troupe and Returning Pro Predictions

Bentley If you have not seen it yet, ABC’s George Pennacchio tweeted a few hints and things to expect about this upcoming season. In addition to saying that this season is going to (hopefully) be a drama-free season and shutting down the rumors that political figures Sean Spicer and Anthony Scaramucci will be competing, he also said that Tom Bergeron confirmed that there will be two former pros who were not in season 24 that will be returning. And who knows? Since things change so quickly behind the scenes at DWTS, we could have even more than two-- or less than two. And to be completely honest, with how quiet the pros of the show have been lately, I can’t even begin to guess who these two pros are.

Julia I’m going with two of Cheryl/Tony/Lacey/Edyta/Louis/Dmitry.

Bentley I’m going with Cheryl and Tony as the returning pros.

Bentley It’s kind of exciting, actually, with how many free spaces there looks to be for the season 25 pros. Assuming that there will be twelve pros this season, and considering that pros like Derek Hough and Mark Ballas are probably not coming back, there seems to be some room to see what some of the lesser known pros and troupe members have to offer!

Julia It doesn’t actually seem like there are a lot of “free spaces” to me. Of course, it depends on the number of positions, but I get the feeling most of last season’s pro crop wants to return this fall, and with the announcement of two former pros being thrown into the mix, it seems like some of them might end up getting cut from the lineup.

Dwtsdreams I felt as though there was a ton of space in the pro lineup because i didn't think Peta, Kym, Maks, Jenna, Allison, or even Witney and Val were going to be a pro this season just because of other projects but now I feel like most of them are coming back so we will see!
