Hot Topics

Bentley The news on Lindsay Arnold’s knee injury was weird, especially with how much things were misinterpreted and incorrect at the beginning. But now that the news outlets have seemingly got their facts straight now, it looks like Lindsay’s injury might make her not be able to dance with Jordan in the semifinals. And if that is the case, Sharna will step in for her. Of course, we all know that things in the news can be exaggerated, but we never really know how serious these things are until the live show happens. Obviously, I’m pretty sure that most of us want Lindsay to heal quickly because A) who doesn’t want people to heal quickly?, and B) it would suck for #TeamFishUponAStar to not be able to dance with each other during the Semifinals. If Sharna does have to fill in for Lindsay, though, I would be quite interested to see how they would dance together. Sharna hasn’t really ever danced with someone like Jordan on the show before (the closest I think of is Cody Simpson in season 18 during the Switch-Up Challenge, but that’s a stretch), so I would really like to see how they connect, especially with such a short time frame to prepare. Either way, no matter what the circumstances will be Monday night, I am sure that Jordan will be able to dance through it with what will appear to be ease. Jordan has become a professional dancer in every sense of the word, and I feel like he is more prepared to deal with a situation like this than any other celebrity this season.

Julia I heard Lindsay is going to be dancing (yaaaaaay!) but either way I think Jordan will be fine. I’m expecting a bit of lowballing in the scores for him tonight but that prediction stands regardless of who is dancing with him.

Dream The show always overplays most injuries and I really hope this is the case for Lindsay. I am 99% sure she is dancing tonight and I wish her a speedy recovery. Some knee injuries take time to heal so we will see. With that said I know Lindsay would be gutted if she couldn’t dance with Jordan tonight in the semi-finals so I’m praying that she will get dance. I don’t think there is any way Lindsay isn't dancing but we will see tonight!

Week 8 MVP Picks
Most Valuable Pro

Bentley It’s appropriate that Alfonso returned this week for the trio dance with Frankie and Witney because this week was the week I realized that Witney Carson’s choreography and instruction this season is just as amazing this season as it was back in Season 19 with Alfonso. In the beginning of the season, I noticed how much she stood out with her dances this season as compared to previous seasons, but her dances on Monday (especially the trio Jive) asserted to me just how much I love her dancing. In previous seasons, she sort of fell under the radar for me, but now she comes out every week with a new routine that is fresh, innovative, and fun. The work that she did with Frankie to manage to get him to dance nearly as perfect as Alfonso is astonishing, and for that, she deserves my pick for MVP this week!

Dream My MVP this week is yet again the talented Lindsay Arnold. In my opion Lindsay has became the best choreographer and teacher out of Season 25’s current girl pros. Lindsay has grown so much on this show and is creating incredible routines each week. I am so proud of her!

Julia Witney Carson has been phenomenal all season, including this week! The Jive trio in particular was great at highlighting Frankie’s strengths and making him look good next to Alfonso, and it was one of my favorite routines of the season thus far!

Picks for Most Valuable Returning Celebrity
This week, we are choosing who we believe was the most valuable returning contestant to help out in the trios round.

Bentley It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t choose Corbin Bleu as my pick for the most valuable returning celebrity! He not only danced incredibly like Jordan in their trio Salsa, but he also represented everything great about his own dancing that is also great about Jordan’s dancing. Corbin and Jordan danced with Lindsay as if they were one, and when it all came together, it was one of the most clean and coherent Latin dances I have ever seen on the show!

Julia The returning celebrity who I think was the biggest asset to the team they were working with for the week was definitely Rashad Jennings. He was able to help bring out a whole new side of Drew and dance in a way that didn’t overshadow him. :)
Dream My MVP returning celebrity is Corbin Bleu. Corbin looked like a professional on that dance floor performance-wise. He owned the dance floor at the same time completing Jordan and Lindsay.

Week 9 Predictions

Bentley I think that most viewers of the show can agree that it is more than likely that Jordan and Lindsey Stirling are safe next week. It’s also a safe bet to say that Frankie is going to be safe, too. So that just leaves us with Drew and Victoria. And honestly, I’m stumped. Victoria only has one more point than Drew, and considering that I believe that both of their fan bases are fairly large, I think it might come down to a close vote. In terms of their dances, I think that they both kinda fell on the less memorable end of the spectrum with their first dances, but when it came to the trios, I think Drew had the upper hand on Victoria. And I know that Drew has been getting some of the more lower scores of the season, but Victoria isn’t too far behind, so the amount of votes they needed to stay each week weren’t too far off from each other. With this in mind, I think I have to say that based off of Monday’s performances, Victoria will be the next one to go. If it’s not her, then I will be surprised if anyone but Drew is eliminated.

Julia Yeah it’s very clear Frankie, Lindsey, and Jordan will all be finalists and Drew seems to be a fair amount of voter support compared to Victoria so I also believe she will be eliminated this week.

Dream In terms of fanbase apart from viewers of DWTS Victoria has the smallest. Frankie has the nostalgia vote, Drew has his whole fan base that watches the show, and Jordan and Lindsey have their fans that support their music careers. I adore Victoria, so I hope she doesn’t go home, but it could be her.

Next Week…

Next week is the Semifinals, and as the DWTS press release says, the final five will be dancing in another two rounds of dances again. And then the four finalists will be determined with yet another elimination!

For the first round of dances, the couples will dance to songs that the pros picked out specifically for their partners. These performances are:

  • Drew Scott and Emma Slater will dance a Tango to I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers
  • Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson will dance Salsa to Shake by Ying Yang Twins & Pitbull
  • Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold will dance an Argentine Tango to Brother by NEEDTOBREATHE featuring Gavin DeGraw
  • Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas will dance Contemporary to Head High by Alexander Jean
  • Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy will dance Contemporary to To Build a Home by Cinematic Orchestra featuring Patrick Watson

In round two, the semifinalists will perform a routine that reimagines a previous iconic routine from the show in a past season. These reimagined routines will be:

  • Drew Scott and Emma Slater will dance Jazz to Yeah! by Usher featuring Lil Jon & Ludacris, reinterpreted from Corbin Bleu, Karina Smirnoff, and Witney Carson’s Trio Jazz from Season 17, Week 9
  • Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson will dance a Paso Doble to Carnival De Paris by Dario G, reinterpreted from Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough’s Paso Doble from Season 4, Week 8 (Redone Season 4, Week 10)
  • Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold will dance a Jive to Proud Mary by Tina Turner, reinterpreted from Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas’s Jive from Season 22, Week 6
  • Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas will dance a Tango to Feel So Close by Calvin Harris, reinterpreted from Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy’s Tango from Season 18, Week 6
  • Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy will dance a Charleston to Bang Bang by will.i.am, reinterpreted from Amber Riley and Derek Hough’s Charleston from Season 17, Week 3 (Redone Season 17, Week 11, Night 1)

And, with only one week left after Monday’s episode, the last couple will be eliminated before the finale, turning the final five into the final four.
