DWTS 20 Week 2 (My Jam Monday)- Stats and Opinions

It was My Jam Monday on Dancing With the Stars, and I liked it more than My Jam Monday last season. The show started off slow, but the energy was building up until the end. I saw a lot of improvements this week, and I noticed how everyone is in it to it! That is one of the many reasons why I like this season's cast.

Chris Soules and Witney Carson- Cha Cha

Time of Our Lives by Pitbull and Ne-Yo
Score: 5, 6, 5, 5 (21) Lowest Score of the Night
My Score: 6
1-855-234-5602

Although this dance was not very clean, I think that Chris still has a lot of potential. I think that Chris was underscored, probably because he was the first one to dance on Monday. There was a lot of content, and I think that he did really well with what he was given with the time frame that he had, I am very worried, however, with his safety next week because of him having such a lower score than everyone else. Just remember that this show is about the votes as well!

Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovilani- Jive

Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On by Jerry Lee Lewis
Score: 7, 7, 7, 7 (28)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5611

Suzanne killed it! She was on beat, had bounce in her step, and did everything with a smile! What more is there to say? She improved so much, and she looked much more comfortable this week as well. I love how she demonstrates that age is just a number, and she truly represented that in this jive.

Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson- Foxtrot

You Make Me Feel So Young by Michael Bublé
Score: 7, 7, 7, 7 (28)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5609

Once again, I love the chemistry between Robert and Kym. They make the dance floor filled with so much fun! I also want to give a shout out to the people who work behind the scenes on the show, because the set and the costumes were gorgeous! Everything about this performance made me smile!

Charlotte McKinney and Keoikantse Motsepe- Cha Cha

California Gurls by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg
Score: 7, 6, 7, 6 (26)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5601

I love Charlotte's attitude so much. She handled those haters really well! As for the Cha Cha, I wanted to see more confidence in her. Her steps seemed very light, and her torso was a little stiff. However, the performance (including the lobsters), really brought some much needed energy to the stage. I was actually happily surprised that Charlotte was safe this week because of what the haters said, and the lack of a fan base she seemed to have. She and Keo look like they really want this, and I am so happy that they can rub their safety in the haters' faces --even though they are much more humble than that.

Michael Sam and Peta Murgatroyd- Foxtrot

Working My Way Back to You by The Spinners
Score: 7, 7, 7, 7 (28)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5603

In the package before his dance, Michael was described as not being focused throughout the week. I did not see that at all on the dance floor! He improved so much this week, and cleaned up on the things he did poorly in week one. His hold could have been more loose, and his butt could have been tucked in more, but I'm sure he will work on that, Ultimately, this Michael Sam pleasantly surprised me again!

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Cha Cha

Rumour Has It by Adele
Score: 8, 8, 8, 8 (32)
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5610

Rumer owned that stage, and dominated over Val, Henry, and Alan (which is very hard to do)! I really appreciate that Val did not put in any fluff, and really showed Rumer's true talent. It is definitely no rumour that Rumer can dance, but there was one small section where her timing was off. However, that is just knit-picking, :D

Redfoo and Emma Slater- Jive Eliminated- 12th

My Sharona by The Knack
Score: 8, 7, 8, 8 (31)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5607

Redfoo improved a lot this week, and I mean a lot. It seems as though his low score last week motivated him to dominate this jive to his favorite jam. I do think that his score was a little high, but that doesn't matter to me. It was sad to seem go, and I wanted to see more of a journey with him. This elimination really shows that the audience has to vote, because this elimination was determined by less than a tenth of a percent of a vote!

Willow Shields and Mark Ballas- Argentine Tango

Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye
Score: 8, 8, 8, 8 (32)
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5612

This was my favorite performance of the night hands down! Mark is so creative, and Willow really helped represent the refreshing and intriguing theme that Mark wanted to present. I love the Argentine Tango, and Willow really did justice to it. One thing that I do have to say is that Willow has to rely on Mark a little less because she was a tad bit weaker on the side-by-side movements, Once again, I really have to give props to the people behind the scenes of Dancing With the Stars because those costumes were incredible!

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess- Samba

Homegrown Honey by Darius Rucker
Score: 7, 6, 7, 7 (27)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5605

I take back what I said last week about Noah not having a natural rhythm. This Samba really showcased Noah's musicality, and opened the audience's eyes to his incredible capabilities. I found it so sweet that he dedicated this to his girlfriend in training, and I found it even sweeter when she showed up after he received his scores! Noah looked so happy, and I am so happy for him.

Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough- Rumba

Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
Score: 9, 8, 8, 9 (34) Highest Score of the Night
My Score: 9
1-855-234-5604

This is what I call a Rumba! All my favorite things about the Rumba was showcased in this beautiful performance. Unlike last week's foxtrot, I feel as though this showed Nastia's side of technicality, rather than just flexibility. I do agree with the judges that there needs to be a stronger connection, so I hope that I see that in future weeks.

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker- Foxtrot

Sugar by Maroon 5
Score: 8, 8, 8, 8
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5608

I love how Allison always puts her own personal twists in traditional dance styles, and I appreciate that she does not go overboard with it. I really like this side of Riker that was showcased, and I also like the fact that he is willing to do whatever Allison suggests to him.

Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvinstev- Salsa

In da Club by 50 Cent
Score; 7, 7, 7, 7 (28)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5606

I don't even know what to say! Patti really has swagger, and she is not afraid to show it! Was this a very technical Salsa? No. But who cares?! Patti really made me a big fan of her with her personality, along with her "let's do it" attitude. I really think that she can branch off from this, and give us a really impressive performance in the future!

So what did you think of everyone on My Jam Monday? What was your favorite performance? Who do you think will be eliminated next week?

DWTS 20- Week 1 Stats and Opinions

The Dancing With the Stars twentieth season premiered on Monday, and I think that it was the best premiere in DWTS history. I like how each contestant really entertained me, and have their own things that they are good at. I like when the contestants have room to grow in week one, because I like to them transition as dancers. So, here are the stats, an my opinions, of each contestant during week one of DWTS season 20!

Willow Shields and Mark Ballas- Cha Cha
Lips are Moving by Meghan Trainor
Score: 6, 6, 6, 7 (25)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5612

First of all, I loved that Hunger Games bit that was before the dance. The dance itself, however, felt like it fell flat to me. I do have to give credit to both Willow and Mark for being the first dancers of season 20, but it was not a show-stopping premiere opening to me. I love the steps she took (especially the lock turns), and I even loved her enthusiasm.

Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson- Cha Cha
Bills by LunchMoney Lewis
Score: 7, 7, 7, 7 (28)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5609

Robert definitely surprised me with this dance! I enjoyed this one so much, and I thought that the entire production was fantastic. He is so. . .what's the word? Suave? I don't know what the word is, but I know that he has it. I didn't think that I would like this couple as much as I do now, but now I am looking forward to their dance next week!

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker- Jive
What I Like About You by The Romantics
Score: 8, 7, 8, 8 (31)
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5608

This was the type of dance of wanted to see Cody Simpson and Witney Carson do in season 18. As I have stated many times on Twitter, I think that Riker and Allison have amazing chemistry. I do, as the judges said, want to see him do more of a ballroom or "subtle" dance for next time. I really hope, however, that Riker and Allison can pull this off in future weeks as well. I am a little worried that this might be another situation similar to what occurred with Jonathan and Allison last season.

Charlotte McKinney and Keoikantse Motsepe- Jive
Shake a Tail Feather by The Blues Brothers
Score: 6, 5, 5, 6 (22) Lowest Score of the Night
My Score: 5
1-855-234-5601

I really wanted Charlotte to do well, especially after Keo's uh-oh with Lolo last season. Charlotte is a good performer, but she is not a natural mover. She definitely has the wow factor in every sense of the word, but I feel like she messed up on even some of the most basic jive steps. I strongly feel as though this couple will be eliminated next week because they are tied for last place, and seem like they do not have as large of a fan base as some of the other couples.

Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev- Foxtrot
Lady Marmalade by LaBelle
Score: 7, 6, 6, 6 (25)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5606

This is yet another couple that I loved to watch. Patti is great in hold, and has a great charm to her as well. She moves great for her age, and she looked so youthful on the dance floor. I feel as though this dance was underscored because her lines were clean, her frame was phenomenal, and she is wonderful at putting on a show for the audience. I also love the fact that she was about to cry tears of joy after dancing. So sweet!

Chris Soules and Witney Carson- Jive
Footloose by Kenny Loggins
Score: 7, 6, 6, 7 (26)
My Score: 7
1-855-234-5602

I do not know how I feel about this dance. Overall, I liked it. I am just a little confused on whether or not his movement was actually flow-y or not. I don't know how to explain this, but I feel as though Chris is uncomfortable with dancing. I also feel as though he was trying to hold back in order to be more sharp. I'm not sure if that is correct, but that is how I interpreted it. This is another contestant who does not naturally move, but I feel like he really has a good sense of rhythm. I can't wait to see what they showcase for us next time to see if he really breaks out of his shell or not.

Michael Sam and Peta Murgatroyd- Cha Cha
Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
Score: 6, 6, 7, 7 (26)
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5603

As much as I was not a fan of that creepy smile Michael had for half of the dance, this was probably my favorite dance of the night. I think that they were way underscored, and the comments were a little exaggerated. I did not think that his footwork was bad at all. Sure, he could polish it up a little bit, but his feet were a lot better than a lot of other people's feet. Throughout this entire night, people that I thought would not be memorable turned out to be some of my favorite contestants, such as Michael.

Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough- Foxtrot
New York, New York (FWB Remix) by Ray Quinn featuring Ultra Love
Score: 7, 7, 8, 8 (30)
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5604

I know that the show's Foxtrot dance style is supposed to be Americanized, but I would have preferred more hold in this routine. Besides that, I was enjoyed every second of this! I know that Carrie Ann called out the lift (as usual), but I feel like lifts should be accepted in certain dances as long as they are performed properly, and are not overused.

Redfoo and Emma Slater- Cha Cha
Juicy Wiggle by Redfoo
Score: 6, 5, 5, 6 (22) Lowest Score of the Night
My Score: 5
1-855-234-5607

I really thought that Redfoo would be more technical than this. Although I absolutely adore this couple, I hope that Redfoo will progress a lot through the weeks because I feel as though Emma would be showcased in a way that she has never been showcased on this show before. I thought that the technique was not good, but hey, it had the Juicy Wiggle in it. So who can complain about that? :P

Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess- Cha Cha
I Lived by One Republic
Score: 7, 6, 6, 7(26)
My Score: 6
1-855-234-5605

First off, I think that Noah is one of the most heroic, inspirational, and incredible people to be on Dancing With the Stars. Dancing aside, I really think that Noah deserves all of the recognition that he gets, and then some. Although he is not a natural mover (which is understandable), I do think that he will get better as the weeks go by. This was a huge challenge for both Sharna and Noah (considering that they have to practically dance backwards and creatively), but I think that they will get used to it, and really impress the audience even more!

Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovilani- Cha Cha
Physical by Olivia Newton-John
Score: 6, 6, 6, 7 (25)
My Score: 5
1-855-234-5611

Tony is very creative when it comes to choreographing for "older" contestants, and this performance was no exception. Suzanne has a long way to go, but I feel like she will make some progress. I do feel, however, that this dance was over scored. Don't get me wrong; I thought that she did really well. However, I think that because she does so well, there should have been more content. I think that the song was a little slow for Cha Cha, so maybe that was part of it. Ultimately, I did think that this was an okay routine.

Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Foxtrot
Take Me to Church by Hozier
Score: 8, 8, 8, 8 (32) Highest Score of the Night
My Score: 8
1-855-234-5610

I had high hopes for Rumer, and she actually surpassed them! I really don't have anything major to say about this dance that was bad to me. This couple really deserved to receive the highest score of the night, and I hope they step it up even more in future weeks. My only concern is about their room to grow because the audience usually likes it when contestants have a story to watch about an okay dancer become a great dancer. I really want this duo to surprise us each and every week.

So what do you think of last night's performances? Make sure you vote for your favorite contestants, because every vote counts!

DWTS Throwback: My Favorite Performances of Season 19

If you haven't seen already, I made a list of my favorite performances from season 18 of Dancing With the Stars.

Here are my top 16 favorite performances from season 19 of Dancing With the Stars.

**Note: I do not own any of these YouTube videos, and all credit belongs to the Dancing With the Stars TV show on ABC.**

16. Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Viennese Waltz (Week 3)
Although this dance really much of a typical Waltz, it was still sweet. I love how accurate to the movie Up this is, and the flowing movement to it.

15. Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvinstev- Contemporary (Week 4)

This was probably one of the most emotional performances during "Must Memorable Year Night". Lea and Artem told a wonderful story, and it is definitely a memorable dance.

14. Alfonso Riberio and Witney Carson- Salsa (Week 6)

This Salsa has everything. I love the footwork, perfect movements, and overall entertainment of this piece. Alfonso and Witney are a perfect pair together!

13. Team Creepy (Alfonso & Witney, Sadie & Mark, Tommy & Peta, Antonio & Cheryl)- Freestyle (Week 7)

Sure, this dance wasn't very technical, but it is my second favorite team dance of all DWTS history (my favorite was Team Tango from season 14). This was very unique, and the choreography was smart for each couple.

12. Alfonso Riberio and Witney Carson- Jive (Week 11, Night 1)

What ca I say? Alfonso rocked this the first time, and did even better the second time! Alfonso is such a natural mover.

11. Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd- Cha Cha (Week 1)

Throughout season 19, Tommy and Peta never failed to entertain. I love this tribute Cha Cha to Cheech and Chong because it is hilarious and full of subliminal messages. ;)

10. Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvinstev- Argentine Tango (Week 7)

Lea was not in her best emotional state for this Argentine Tango, but she really delivered. The choreography flowed well, which really showcased Lea. If she would have been less tense, this would have gotten perfect tens for sure.

9. Antonio Sabàto, Jr. and Allison Holker- Bollywood (Week 5)

Allison worked a lot better in the Switch-Up challenge than I thought. Although Antonio really couldn't keep up with her, it was still very impressive.

8.Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Quickstep (Week 10)

This Quickstep was a great mix between proper Quickstep technique, and Sadie's amazing style. Mark's amazing choreography prevailed once again!

7. Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Samba (Week 11, Night 1)

The second time Janel and Val did this Samba, it was a huge improvement. They really did have a lot of passion, which was what Julianne and Pitbull both wanted.

6. Bethany Mota and Derek Hough- Paso Doble (Week 7)

This was the only performance during Halloween Night that really gave me an eerie Halloween feel. This, for me, was the moment that Bethany finally came out of her shell and shined.

5. Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Freestyle (Week 11, Night 1)

I am a huge gamer, so I geeked out so much when watching this dance. This is probably my favorite setting and theme to any dance I have ever seen. By the way, Sadie was a great Princess Peach!

4. Bethany Mota, Derek Hough, and and Tony Dovolani- Argentine Tango (Week 9)

I am very conflicted over whether this dance had enough Argentine Tango content in it or not. Well, either way, the concept and the transitions were superb.

3. Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Cha Cha (Week 1)

Sadie and Mark had so many great dances together! This proves that Sadie was spectacular from week one. Sadie claims she never had dance training before, but she really seems like a professional in this Cha Cha!

2. Alfonso Riberio, Witney Carson, and Lindsay Arnold- Paso Doble (Week 9)

For season 18, I stated that there were a lot of amazing Argentine Tangos. For season 19, however, I feel as though there were so many amazing trios. Alfonso really showed a different side of him in this Paso Doble. Not to mention, Lindsay showed a new side to her as well.

1. Sadie Robertson, Mark Ballas, and Emma Slater- Foxtrot (Week 9)

I don't care at all that Sadie messed up a little bit at the end of this Foxtrot. This dance was amazing! Mark really showed his creativity (as always) by pulling off what he did. Not only did he have to make a Foxtrot into a trio, but he had to showcase Sadie while having two females on it. This Foxtrot was genius and performed really well.

Honarable Mentions:
  • Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Argentine Tango (Week 10)
  • Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas- Samba (Week 4)
  • Alfonso Riberio and Witney Carson- Jazz (Week 4)
  • Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Jazz (Week 3)
  • Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Freestyle (Week 11, Night 1)
  • Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy- Quickstep (Week 9)

Season 19 had a lot of great performances! What do you think? What are your favorite dances from DWTS 19?
