DWTS 20 Pros- Facts

Season 20 of Dancing With the Stars is almost here, so I thought that we should get to know the pros better! Here are some facts about the professional dancers on season 20 of DWTS!

Mark Ballas

  • Son of Corky Ballas and Shirley Ballas.
  • His grandfather, George Ballas, invented the Weed Eater lawn trimming device.
  • Born in Texas,

Allison Holker

  • Started dancing at age three.
  • Has been teaching dance since age fourteen,

Artem Chigvintsev

  • Born and raised in Russia.
  • Became an American citizen in November 2014.

Peta Murgatroyd

  • Born in New Zealand.
  • Moved to Australia at eighteen months of age.
  • Started ballet at age four.

Derek Hough

  • Cousin of Riker Lynch.
  • Has fifteen nephews and nieces.
  • Lived in London, England for ten years when he was twelve years old.
  • Graduated from the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts in London.

Sharna Burgess

  • Self-proclaimed tomboy.
  • Began ballet, jazz, and gymnastics at age five.

Keoikantse Motsepe

  • Was undefeated South African Latin American champion for eight years.
  • Started dancing at age five after his friend suggested it to him.

Witney Carson

  • Attended Utah Valley University.

Tony Dovolani

  • Has a wife and two twin daughters,

Kym Johnson

  • Began dancing at age three.
  • Retired from competitive ballroom dancing in 2001.

Valentin Chmerkovskiy

  • Born in the Ukrainian city of Odessa.
  • His family migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1994.
  • Plays the violin
  • Co-owner of six competitive dance studios.
  • Has a rap album.

Emma Slater

  • Born in Tamworth, England.
  • Appeared in George Michael's music video "Round Here" at age 15 in London, England.
