Overall Comments on Week 2
@juliadelbel: It was nice to see another non-themed week because it gave the pros more freedom with concepts and designs for the routines.
@dwtsdreams: I enjoyed Week 2. I hope Maks gets better really quickly because I love to see him on the dance floor!
@TheBentleyNinja: Due to minor surgery on his calf, it looks like Maks will be out for at least another couple of weeks. But if Heather makes it far this season, which is very likely, she will most likely be able to dance with Maks again. But Alan is a really great partner for Heather, and I’m excited to see what they have in store for us next! The weird thing, though, is that, for awhile, we are going to see more dances of Heather with Alan dancing together than Heather with Maks dancing together.
@juliadelbel: Like I mentioned last week, I’m still finding this season to have a more serious tone which I don’t really like. This week we had two packages featuring crying, one focusing on a sad backstory, another focusing on struggles of connecting with a dance, and an injury. I know the injury can’t be helped but the rest of that kind of stuff doesn’t usually show up in the packages so early in the season. If things are this intense now, what are they going to be like down the line? Having said that, I found Nancy’s issues with compliments very relatable and it was an interesting thing to include in her package.
@TheBentleyNinja: Relatively speaking, I feel as though the scores were way off on Monday night. And I mean way off. From pretty much all of them except Bruno. Although I did like to see how different Len scored and commented compared to Julianne! While I agree with Nancy receiving all sevens, if Erika is also to get all sevens, then I think that Nancy should have gotten at least a couple of eights. The only problem with that, though, is that the judges can’t just say anything like, “Well, we can’t give Erika the same score as Nancy, so let’s decide which ones of us have to give the lower marks.” And this is why, as @pahgah said on Twitter, I wish that there were half points to give. Because if that were the case, I would have given Nancy a 7.5 and Erika a 7.
@juliadelbel: Yes and also lso there is no way Simone should have gotten the same score as Bonner this week. Nick getting the same score as Charo was also controversial but I actually think I’m kind of okay with that outcome.
@TheBentleyNinja: I really like the song choices [see songs list below] for Las Vegas Night next week, but I wish there was more classic Vegas in the mix. But at least we get Ain’t That a Kick in the Head! Oh, and David’s dancing to Candy Shop?! I need to see that! And Charo dancing a Foxtrot? I honestly can’t even picture her doing a calmer dance like that in my head.
MVP (Most Valuable Pro) Picks
@juliadelbel: I was very please to see Artem Chigvintsev give Nancy a nice routine that suited her with lots of Cha-Cha content, and was understanding about her sensitivity regarding compliments. I also thought he did a good job dealing with the wardrobe malfunction at the end of their performance!
@dwtsdreams: My MVP is Alan Bersten. He did an incredible job stepping in for Maks and didn't miss a beat. I actually think he performed better than half the pros. He performed his heart out and I am very proud of him!
@TheBentleyNinja: Sasha Farber gave Simone choreography that was well-suited for her personality, even though doing something sexy was uncomfortable to her. But Simone didn’t look uncomfortable on the dance floor at all, and I think Sasha helped her with that to be more confident in herself.
Elimination Predictions
@dwtsdreams: The weakest links in the completion right now are Charo and Mr.T. To be honest I am not a fan of Charo’s crazy act. I would much rather have Mr.T than Charo.
@TheBentleyNInja: My prediction for next week’s elimination is stuck between Mr. T and Erika (although Charo is up there, too). While Mr. T had a more memorable dance than Erika, Erika did have a significantly higher score than him. And I think that Erika has just enough room with her scores to stay safe for another week, which would send Mr. T home.
@juliadelbel: I think with the margin he has to cover Mr. T is a goner on Monday. If Charo is second from the bottom in combined totals I wouldn’t be too surprised if they announce a surprise double-boot and show her the door too.
