From the Skybox (Season 25, Week 4)- Who's Not Going to Make the Cut?!

As we approached the end of the beginning of the season with Most Memorable Year Night on Dancing With the Stars on Monday, we heard emotional stories, saw memorable performances, and experienced Derek and Sharna’s elimination.

With more feedback and stats for this week, here are Paul Bentley and Julia Delbel with From the Skybox!

Hot Topics

Bentley Probably an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely hate slow songs that have a whispery voice to it, and the few songs on Monday that did fit that description made me lose my enjoyment for some of the dances. The songs just came off as creepy to me.

Bentley Also, what was up with all the 8’s this week? These judges seem to like to stick to one particular number and just roll with it every so often.

Week 4 MVP Picks
Most Valuable Pro

Bentley The pros really gave it their all this week, and after some careful deliberation, I think I have to make Artem Chigvintsev my MVP this week! Nikki has got to be my favorite partner of his not only because of how well they work together, but also because of how Artem has been giving her some good stuff to work with. Their Contemporary this week was familiar, yet refreshing, and the silks were used in a way that was artistic and not overwhelming in any way. I always look forward to seeing Nikki and Artem dance every week, and a big part of that is because of how invested Artem seems with Nikki, and because of how top-notch he is as a teacher this season!

Julia I was very impressed with what a great job Emma Slater did at helping Drew stand out with a happy story and dance style that tall men tend to have difficulty executing. Everything down to the bright blue color of the costumes contributed to the memorability of the segment, and even days later I still can’t believe she got not one but TWO tall guys - one of whom hadn’t even danced on the show yet - to do that solid of a Jive!

Week 5 Predictions

Bentley Looking at just the Most Memorable Year Night stories themselves, I think that Drew, Sasha, and Nick fall towards the end of the totem pole. But looking at the grand scheme of things, I think that Sasha and possibly even Terrell are in the most danger. They both seemed to have just fallen through the cracks this week, and in a night with a lot of standouts, that was not a good time to be lost in the background.

Julia Nick is probably going to be saved by another jeopardy boost, and Drew managed to stand out despite having a positive story. Terrell had a breakout week (and so did Nikki, who I know some were worried was starting to fade away) so I don’t see anyone other than Sasha leaving Monday night.

Next Week…

Next week, for the first ever time in a Fall season, is Disney Night on Dancing With the Stars, which will have dances that represent different Disney movies from various time periods. And with such a magical night coming up on Monday, here are the dances we will be seeing, as per the DWTS press release!

  • Drew Scott and Emma Slater will dance a Viennese Waltz to Rainbow Connection from The Muppet Movie (1979)
  • Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson will dance an Argentine Tango to Angelica from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
  • Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold will dance a Foxtrot to You’re Welcome from Moana (2016)
  • Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas will dance a Foxtrot to When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio (1940)
  • Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd will dance a Quickstep to The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book (1967)
  • Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev will dance Jazz to Remember Me from Coco (Coming to Theaters November 22, 2017)
  • Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko will dance a Rumba to Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid (1989)
  • Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke will dance a Quickstep to I Just Can’t Wait to be King from The Lion King (1994)
  • Vanessa Lachey and Maks Chmerkovskiy will dance a Waltz to Un Jour Mon Prince Viendra from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
  • Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy will dance Jazz to Steamboat Willie from Steamboat Willie (1928)

Plus, at the end of the night, there will be another elimination!
