Predictions and Wants For Season 25
@TheBentleyNinja: Since Dancing With the Stars is heading into its silver jubilee season, it would makes sense that it might be another All-Stars season, especially since the show is taking a hiatus in Spring of next year. If that is the case, I want to see a lot of second-placers from relatively more recent seasons returning, such as Riker Lynch, Nick Carter, Paige VanZant (very much so), Amy Purdy, and James Hinchcliffe. I would also like to see some redemption from couples that seemed to be eliminated before we were able to see all of their potential, like Redfoo, Christina Milian, and Willow Shields. And there are people who I just like seeing on my screen, like Leah Remini, Noah Galloway, and Nicole Polizzi.
If it isn’t an All-Stars season, though, I would like to see a refreshing mix of new people with maybe more comedians, YouTubers, and commentators. As for comedians I want to see dance on the show, I think that Kate McKinnon from Saturday Night Live would be great, Rainn Wilson from The Office would be interesting to see, and Melissa McCarthy would just dominate everybody. Oh, and Nathan Fielder from Nathan For You, too. That guy is absolutely hysterical.
I think that having YouTubers on DWTS would make the show more appealing to younger people, with various types of YouTube entertainers such as Joe Vargas, Shane Dawson, and Tommy Edison, who is a blind film critic that I think would be inspiring to many.
And, just to throw this out there, I think that Becca Droz from The Amazing Race would be a fun experience, Calvin Harris would be a wild card, and Robin Quivers from The Howard Stern Show would steal people’s hearts!
As for the pros, I want them all, even though that’s not really possible! I of course would like to see some people come back who have not been on in awhile, like Mark Ballas, Anna Trebunskaya, and Chelsie Hightower. I could name pros from this season that I want back, but I really don’t have a problem with any of them staying. I would like to see Alan Bersten as a pro since we have seen so much from him, and maybe Hayley Erbert or Britt Stewart, too, even though I am not as familiar with their dancing and choreography as some of the rest of the troupe.
@juliadelbel: I doubt next season is an All-Star one. If it were, they probably would have mentioned it during the Finale like last time.
I don’t really have any strong celebrity requests (because every time I do, the show treats them badly and it’s sad to see people I like end up in that position) but I do like the popular ideas of Emma with a Property Brother, Jenna with Jake Miller, and Artem with Chilli from TLC. I’d be here for a YouTuber as well but I’d want one that could potentially appeal to older viewers as well. Even if they’d never heard of the person before, it’d be cool to have someone from online media represented that people not well-versed in that side of entertainment could somehow relate to.
I would also like to see some mix-ups in the type of celebrities the pros tend to get. We saw Emma get someone very different than usual in Season 24, and look how that turned out! My main issue right now is that Val almost always gets ringers and Artem almost always gets people on the older side. I’m pretty happy with the variety of partners given to the women for the most part, although I think Sharna is probably due for an older partner. And I hope Kym stays for another season, though I have a feeling this was a one-time deal and we won’t see her back for awhile, if ever.
@dwtsdreams: I would love to see the pros’ stereotypical partner types be changed up. I would love to see Val get someone who is not so young. Even though I love to see Val in the nurturing role, I would love to see him with someone with more life experience. I would love to see Sharna with an older partner because Emma, before this season, was constantly put with the older partners. I would love for Artem to get a newer partner. I would love to see Peta back next season, and I would love to see if Val would like to take time off. He has been working so hard and I would love for him to take some time off to relax.
I loved this season’s troupe. They were so diverse and matched so well together. They had great chemistry together, and I loved it.
I don't have any specific people I would like on the show. Normally I think of them during the off-season. This season was very lopsided in male talent and female talent for the celebrities, so I would love to see that become more equal.
Final Comments on Season 24 of Dancing With the Stars
@TheBentleyNinja: After countless seasons of the same stuff over and over again, I am still waiting for a change. I am over Team Freestyles, the 24-Hour Fusion Challenge, and the Dance-Offs. I want the show to go above and beyond, and while this season, at least in my opinion, had some better dancing than usual, I think that they could do more to keep it interesting. Like, how about instead of Fusion Dances, the Finalists can dance to the guest performances that usually occur on night two of the Finale anyway!
@juliadelbel: The Team Dances are always Freestyles nowadays which seems to give the pros too much leeway, and doesn’t really challenge them to create something memorable. Teams used to be assigned a single Ballroom or Latin style, which I feel would be a bit too confining for that challenge in this era of DWTS. What I would really like to see is a Team Fusion Round, with teams being assigned two dance styles to base their choreography around!
@TheBentleyNinja: That’s a good idea! I was thinking that maybe the teams can have a specific dance style to do when they all dance together, but then they can each have different dance styles assigned to them for short solos. That is, if the music is flexible enough for that.
@TheBentleyNInja: Also, while I’m not a big fan of too many twists on competition shows, I think that this show could use a few. Maybe there can be a season where the celebrities each have their own partners, but they are in a sort of “team” with other people. For instance, if all four guys from Impractical Jokers faced off against four YouTubers and another team of Football players, the audience could vote for their favorite “teams”, and out of those teams, there can be a sort of dance-off that determines who from that team will be eliminated. This is can make the show a little less about the popularity, and more about the dancing. I know that something like this has been done before, but not in the team style.
@dwtsdreams I think that would be cool to switch it up after some many seasons!
@juliadelbel: My main criticism of this season was that a lot of it felt like a downer. Between the negative tone towards certain contestants, the seriousness of most of the rehearsal package, and the lack of behind-the-scenes silliness (that we were able to see) this season was just not very fun to watch as a whole. The first and last weeks were AMAZING (the Finale was particularly awesome and surprisingly the best one we’ve seen in years IMO) and the rest kind of dragged on. I also feel like we didn’t get to see a lot of the partnerships other than Nancy/Artem and David/Lindsay (and to a lesser extent Rashad/Emma) develop like we usually do (though I guess there’s always Snapchat and Instagram). The bad editing is also why I’m not doing rankings this season (I guess I could do the dance one but I’m not opening up that can of worms this time because I know I’d get attacked on twitter.)
@TheBentleyNinja: That’s why, in a way, I would like for there to be results shows again so we can see more of what the couples are like off of the dance floor. But then again, I kind of don’t because they can be really boring at times.
@juliadelbel: I like the hour-long ones, but anything longer than that just drags. Lol.
@dwtsdreams: I would love to see real dances by the pros in those result shows. The bump and grind numbers aren't my thing and pure technical and emotional numbers such as the finale dance river is something I love!
@juliadelbel: Also, shoutout to Erika who was dealing with an injury this season (she just had surgery for it) but powered through anyway! (She chose to keep it private out of fear of people accusing her of trying to get the “sympathy vote”, a topic I plan on covering this off-season.)
@TheBentleyNinja: To end it off, I just want to say how much I want to thank you all for interacting with us on this blog on social media! I say this every season, but it is always true: as the seasons go on, the more I like doing this blog! Now that we have more people to interact with, this blog just keeps getting more and more about agreeing and disagreeing, and being completely okay with that. Next season, though, we plan on making the blog a bit more interactive, but we’ll update you on that as we get closer to season 25.
@TheBentleyNinja: And, of course, I cannot forget to thank Julia, dwtsdreams, and all of the guest bloggers who helped make the blog what it was this season, giving great insight every week in the most interesting ways possible. This page is all about having fun, and that’s exactly what it has been (or at least I hope)! Let’s make season 25 even better!
Team Dreams Wins the Season 24 Fantasy Draft!
After being in last place for the first six weeks of the fantasy draft, dwtsdreams suddenly built her way to the top of the scoreboard, all thanks to her team, consisting of Normani Kordei & Valentin Chmerkovskiy, David Ross & Lindsay Arnold, Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess, and Chris Kattan & Witney Carson!
Ending with an impressive score of 1814 points, Team Dreams blew away the competition, with almost 300 points more than Team Bentley (who had a final total of 1527 points), and more than 600 points than Team Julia (who had a final total of 1205 points).
Next season we’ll be running a second edition of the Fantasy Draft, in addition to a new Bootlist game! More details on both of these challenges coming in the pre-season!
Congratulations, Team Dreams! You won the season 24 DWTS INTERACT fantasy draft!
