Overall Comments on the Quarterfinals
@TheBentleyNinja: Anyone else feel like this season is kind of long? I’m not too sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
@juliadelbel: It felt pretty short to me up until the last couple of weeks, which have d r a g g e d. Lol.
@juliadelbel: I was expecting to see Normani get a lot of love for her Contemporary, but there was actually a lot of backlash. A lot of people had a problem with it being “too racial” and called her “whiny” which made me sad. The audience doesn’t seem to be very sympathetic to the women this season, which is why I was expecting Simone to take a lot of heat for her “smiles don’t win you gold medals” comment. I was surprised again, though, to see a lot of people supporting her after Monday’s show! I just wish Normani didn’t get the hate she did for that powerful story. How sadly ironic for her to open her heart about being cyberbullied, only for people online to trash her for it.
@TheBentleyNinja: The continuous cyberbullying doesn’t surprise me. You can’t avoid it on the internet. But at least Normani has thousands of fans that always back her up!
@juliadelbel: The ironic part of that is many of her fans are known for being very abrasive and prone to attacking anyone who doesn’t worship the ground she walks on. XD
MVP (Most Valuable Pro) Picks
@juliadelbel: I loved the way Lindsay Arnold staged David’s Paso trio, and I also thought she did the best job selecting a song to describe her partner in the first dance!
@TheBentleyNinja: Emma Slater always knows how to implement fun into her routines (probably because she had to rely on that in all of the seasons where her partners did not have the best technique), which was really helpful during the tense night of competition. I also liked her choreography and concept for the Trio Argentine Tango; it stood out from the rest of thr trios.
Elimination Predictions
@TheBentleyNinja: Since David did get as low of an overall score as he did, I still believe that he will be out this week. If somehow he manages to get to the finals, then I have no clue who’s going home. But if I had to say, considering how popular it looks like Normani, Rashad, and Simone are, since SImone had the next lowest score behind David, I would predict for her to be the next one out.
@juliadelbel: I think if everyone was tied and it was up to votes alone Normani would be out, but she’s sitting pretty high on the leaderboard right now so I expect she’ll be fine. I’m kinda scared Rashad may have fallen through the cracks because between all the high scores, emotional dances, and much-debated drama he seemed to be the least memorable of the week, but I still don’t think both of those below got enough to take him out. David is at the bottom right now, but I think he might be getting the most votes out of EVERYONE. Even though I haven’t seen the margins yet I think there’s a decent chance he passed Simone, so I’m going with her, even though the surprising outpour of support I saw from fans after the show is making me wonder…..

Next Week. . .
Next week is going to be the Semifinals already! The final four couples, David & Lindsay, Normani & Val, Rashad & Emma, and Simone & Sasha, will all compete in another two rounds of dances, the first of which is the Judges’ Challenge, where each judge is assigned to a different couple to help them with a new dance style.
During the night, according to the DWTS press release for Week 9, dancer Cheryl Burke will perform as well as singer Calum Scott.
So here is what the couple will dance in the first round of competition in the Judges’ Challenge round:
- Judge Carrie Ann Inaba assigned for Simone Biles and Sasha Farber to dance a Jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande
- Judge Bruno Tonioli assigned for Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater to dance a Rumba to Say I Won’t Let Go by James Arthur
- Judge Len Goodman assigned for Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy to dance a Viennese Waltz to Desperado by Rihanna
- Judge Julianne Hough assigned for David Ross and Lindsay Arnold to dance a Foxtrot to You Make Me Feel So Young by Michael Bublé
And here is what the couples will perform for the second round of competition:
- Simone Biles and Sasha Farber will dance Rumba to Skyscraper by Demi Lovato
- Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater will dance a Quickstep to Yes I Can by Superhumans
- Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy will dance Jazz to What a Wonderful World by Ray Chew Live
- David Ross and Lindsay Arnold will dance a Tango to Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran
For the last time this season on DWTS INTERACT, we will have another guest blogger with us to discuss the ninth week of performances with us for the Wednesday blog post!
What did you think of the Quarterfinals on Dancing With the Stars? Which individual dance do you think outshined the rest? Which trio dance do you think implemented their third dancer the best? What did you think of Bonner and Sharna’s elimination? Who do you think will be eliminated next week?
Next week will feature another two dances from each couple, featuring the Judges’ Challenge! And at the end of the Semifinals week 10 episode, another couple will be eliminated, coming in fifth place and coming just short of the finals!
